‘We will give a standing ovation because I believe it is a sign of respect and also we have to acknowledge how good they are and when we have done that standing ovation we will compete and see if we can be in the same competition as them next season. That is our dream and our goal. We know it will be difficult but we have to try,’ Marcelino said.
Villarreal are currently in fifth place with 64 points from 36 games, five more than sixth place Real Betis. Betis are due to visit Atletico Madrid on the same day. If Manuel Luis Pellegrini’s side are unable to beat Atletico, it means that the Yellow Submarine will guarantee a Champions League spot regardless of the outcome of their match against the Azulgrana.
