Alejandro Papu Gomez believes his former club Atalanta are ready to hurt Real Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday too.
Alejandro Papu Gomez, the 36-year-old midfielder, has warned Real Madrid ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League trip to Atalanta that it will be a difficult game for the Bernabeu, given the Bergamo side’s impressive form this season, Mundo Deportivo reported on Monday.
Papu Gomez played for Atalanta between 2014 and 2021, so the Argentine midfielder knows the Bergamo side well ahead of Gian Piero Gasperini’s side hosting Real Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday, a tough task for Los Blancos, according to the 36-year-old.
Defending champions Real Madrid are currently fighting for at least a place in the playoffs after defeats to Lille, AC Milan and Liverpool, leaving them with just six points from their last five games and needing to perform well in their final three games against Atalanta, Salzburg and Brest, with a tough challenge in Bergamo on Tuesday.
‘Atalanta can hurt anyone, not just Real Madrid. Los Blancos are not in good form, they have players who are injured or have just recovered. I don’t see them being very strong.’
‘In Spain, you never train to play ยูฟ่าเบท one-on-one all over the pitch,’ says Papu Gomez
Asked where Atalanta need to focus on facing Real Madrid on Tuesday. The Argentine said: ‘It is important to share space. With the defenders and be ready to deal with long balls from deep. If (Kylian) Mbappe and Vinicius are out of the game 40 metres away. They can hurt you, just like (Rafael) Leo did on Friday. ‘
‘It is important to watch the games in August again. The coach will prepare for tomorrow’s game from there’. Papu Gomez said of Real Madrid’s 2-0 UEFA Super Cup win thanks to goals from Federico Valverde and Mbappe.
